Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project (KSUDP)
Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project (KSUPD) was initiated by Government of Kerala with financial support from Asian Development Bank.

Aims
- Improve and expand urban infrastructure and services
- Improve urban management, planning, and financing capacity of sector institutions especially ULBs for sustainable provision of urban infrastructure and services
- Livelihood promotion and income generation capacity for poor

Urban Community Upgrading
Improvement to basic urban infrastructure and services are being coupled with livelihood promotion programmes for the poor. Civil society committees are partners in this endeavour. Measures for poverty reduction are being enhanced.

Local Government Infrastructure Development
A specialised financial intermediary has been formed for local government infrastructure financing. The component covers 5 Corporations and 53 Municipalities.
Support for Capacity Building and Project Management
- Capacity Building for Improved Urban Management
Focus is to institutionalise systems to enable LSGUD to monitor the performance of and oversee service delivery by ULBs to improve the sustainability of the Project.
Implementing System
Various committees at State and Corporation level to take policy decisions, project implementation, and project monitoring.
- Empowered Committee
Minister for LSGD is the Chairperson of State-level Empowered Committee and Project Director, KSUDP is Member-Secretary. Corporation Mayors and Department Secretaries concerned are the members.
- Co-ordination Committee
The objectives are integration and evaluation of the project. Principal Secretary LSGD is the chairperson and Project Director, KSUDP is the convenor. Principal Secretaries of Planning and Finance Departments and Secretary, LSG are the members.
- City Level Steering Committee
The Mayor is the chairperson and Corporation Secretary is the convenor. The members include District Collector, chairpersons of Standing Committees, and representatives of community organisations, departments, and councillors.
- Project Management Unit (PMU)
PMU provides leadership to project implementation at the State level. It has Project Director and technical experts.
- Project Implementation Unit
Project Implementation Units (PIU) supervise project execution functions under the Corporation Secretary in each Corporation. The PIUs consist of Project Manager and technical experts.
